Dr. Ekanem is kind but lazy. He often negates taking parents concerns seriously and doing anything beyond basic practice. He has told a parent he is unable to test a child's hearing because there is not a hearing test available to test a child's hearing until they are four or five. This is not true. He has told a parent their child's heart pains were related to growing pains in which this parent transitioned to another pediatrician who heard something atypical and helped discover a missing valve. This could have been deadly. Dr. Ekanem often prescribes allergy type medicine and does not often prescribe antibiotics when needed. He might give out his cell phone number but that doesn't mean he's going to do anything extra as witnessed through more than one set of parents. I do not recommend Dr. Ekanem unless you have no other choice. Their is a pediatrician in Sistersville and Wheeling is also near with many choices. That's what I recommend.
